WHOOP Troubleshooting
Solutions for common issues when using WHOOP with Wellpipe.
Connection Issues
"WHOOP not connected"
Symptoms: Dashboard shows WHOOP as disconnected, or AI says it can't access your data.
Solutions:
- Go to your Wellpipe dashboard
- Check if WHOOP shows "Connected" status
- If disconnected, click Connect and re-authorize
- If connected but not working, try Disconnect then Connect again
"Token expired"
Symptoms: Dashboard shows token expiry warning, queries stop working.
Solutions:
- Click Reconnect in the dashboard
- Authorize on WHOOP again
- Your new token will be valid for 7 days
Authorization Failed
Symptoms: WHOOP's authorization page shows an error, or you're redirected back without connecting.
Solutions:
- Clear browser cookies for whoop.com
- Try an incognito/private browser window
- Make sure you're logging into the correct WHOOP account
- Check that your WHOOP membership is active
- Try a different browser
Data Issues
"No data available"
Symptoms: AI says there's no data, or returns empty results.
Possible causes:
- Data not synced yet - WHOOP processes data after you wake up (15-30 min delay)
- Date range has no data - Try a different time period
- New WHOOP user - Need at least one night of sleep for data
- Connection issue - Token may need refreshing
Solutions:
- Wait for WHOOP to sync (check the WHOOP app first)
- Try asking about a different date range
- Verify your connection in the dashboard
"Missing recent data"
Symptoms: Old data works, but recent data is missing.
Possible causes:
- WHOOP hasn't synced to cloud yet
- Your WHOOP band is out of battery
- Phone hasn't synced with WHOOP servers
Solutions:
- Open the WHOOP app and wait for it to sync
- Check your WHOOP band battery
- Ensure your phone has internet connectivity
Stale or Outdated Data
Symptoms: Data seems old or doesn't match what you see in the WHOOP app.
Solutions:
- Wellpipe fetches data on-demand from WHOOP's API
- If WHOOP app shows newer data, give it 5-10 minutes to propagate
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting your WHOOP
AI Assistant Issues
"I don't have access to health data tools"
Symptoms: Claude/ChatGPT doesn't seem to know about Wellpipe tools.
For Claude Desktop:
- Check your
claude_desktop_config.jsonfile - Verify the Wellpipe MCP configuration is correct
- Restart Claude Desktop (Cmd+Q on Mac, not just close window)
- Look for the tools icon (hammer) in Claude
For ChatGPT:
- Make sure you're using your Custom GPT (not regular ChatGPT)
- Verify the Action was added correctly
- Check that authentication (API key) is configured
"Rate limit exceeded"
Symptoms: Error message about too many requests.
Solutions:
- Check your usage in the Wellpipe dashboard
- Free tier allows 1,000 requests/month
- Consider upgrading to Pro for unlimited requests
- Reduce query frequency
Wrong Data Returned
Symptoms: AI returns data that doesn't match what you asked for.
Solutions:
- Be more specific in your question
- Include dates: "How did I sleep last night (December 20th)?"
- Try breaking complex questions into simpler ones
Account Issues
Wrong WHOOP Account Connected
Symptoms: Data belongs to a different person, or you connected a family member's account.
Solutions:
- Click Disconnect in the Wellpipe dashboard
- Clear cookies for whoop.com in your browser
- Click Connect and log into the correct WHOOP account
- Alternatively, use an incognito window to connect
WHOOP Membership Expired
Symptoms: Authorization fails or stops working.
Solutions:
- Verify your WHOOP membership status
- Renew your WHOOP subscription
- Re-authorize in Wellpipe after renewing
Getting Help
If you've tried these solutions and still have issues:
- Check WHOOP first - Make sure data appears in the WHOOP app
- Check Wellpipe dashboard - Verify connection status and token expiry
- Try reconnecting - Disconnect and reconnect often fixes issues
- Check API status - WHOOP occasionally has outages
