What is Wellpipe?​

Wellpipe is a service that connects your health data from wearables like WHOOP to AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT. It lets you ask natural language questions about your sleep, recovery, workouts, and more.

Is Wellpipe affiliated with WHOOP?​

No. Wellpipe is an independent service built by Excitable Robot Publishing. We use WHOOP's official API to access your data with your permission.

Data & Privacy​

What data does Wellpipe access?​

Wellpipe accesses read-only data from your health providers:

  • Sleep sessions and quality metrics
  • Recovery scores and HRV
  • Workout activities and strain
  • Daily physiological cycles
  • Profile and body measurements

Is my health data stored?​

No. Wellpipe stores only:

  • Your encrypted OAuth tokens (to access the API)
  • Usage logs (request counts for rate limiting)

Your actual health data is fetched on-demand and not retained.

How is my data encrypted?​

OAuth tokens are encrypted using AES-256-GCM, an industry-standard encryption algorithm. Tokens are encrypted before storage and decrypted only when making API requests.

Can I delete my data?​

Yes. You can:

  1. Disconnect providers - Revokes access to your health data
  2. Delete your account - Removes all stored data including tokens and usage logs

Your health data in WHOOP/Oura/etc. remains unchanged.

Who can see my data?​

Only you and AI assistants you connect. Wellpipe does not:

  • Share data with third parties
  • Use your data for training AI models
  • Access your data for any purpose other than serving your requests

Technical​

What is MCP?​

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that lets AI assistants access external tools and data sources. It allows Claude to directly call Wellpipe tools rather than you copying and pasting data.

Do I need to install anything?​

  • Cloud version: No installation required—just sign up at app.wellpipe.io
  • Claude Desktop: You'll configure a JSON file to add Wellpipe as an MCP server
  • Self-hosted: Requires Node.js and the Wellpipe CLI

What is an API key?​

Your API key is a secret token that identifies your Wellpipe account. It's used to authenticate requests from AI assistants to your health data. Keep it private—anyone with your key can access your data.

Can I use multiple AI assistants?​

Yes. Your API key works with any compatible assistant. You can use Claude Desktop at home, ChatGPT on mobile, and the REST API in scripts—all with the same key.

Why does my token expire?​

WHOOP access tokens expire after 7 days for security. When your token expires:

  1. Return to your Wellpipe dashboard
  2. Click Reconnect on the WHOOP card
  3. Authorize again

We're working on automatic refresh to eliminate this step.

Troubleshooting​

Why isn't my data showing?​

Common causes:

  1. Not synced yet - WHOOP takes 15-30 minutes after waking to process data
  2. Token expired - Check your dashboard for connection status
  3. Wrong date range - Try asking about a different time period
  4. No data exists - New users need at least one night of sleep

Why is my token expired?​

WHOOP tokens expire after 7 days. Re-authorize by clicking Reconnect in your dashboard.

How do I reconnect WHOOP?​

  1. Go to app.wellpipe.io
  2. Find the WHOOP card
  3. Click Reconnect
  4. Authorize on WHOOP's website

How do I regenerate my API key?​

  1. Go to app.wellpipe.io
  2. Find the API Key section
  3. Click Regenerate
  4. Update your AI assistant configuration with the new key

Note: This invalidates your old key immediately.

Claude says it doesn't have access to tools​

  1. Verify your claude_desktop_config.json is correct
  2. Completely quit Claude Desktop (Cmd+Q on Mac)
  3. Reopen Claude Desktop
  4. Look for the tools icon (hammer/wrench)

Will you support Oura?​

Yes! Oura integration is in development. Join the waitlist in your dashboard.

Will you support Fitbit/Garmin/Apple Health?​

These are on our roadmap. Sign up for the waitlist to be notified.

Will there be a mobile app?​

We're exploring mobile options. Currently, you can use the REST API with mobile AI apps like ChatGPT or Claude mobile.

Will Claude Web get native support?​

Yes. We're adding OAuth support for Claude connectors, which will allow native integration without API key prompts.
